If you qualify for SSD, you will receive Medicare 2 years after your payments start. We realize that's a long time to wait.However, if you have been turned down for an individual health insurance policy because of a pre-existing condition, we have great news. Health care laws have changed; apply again.
If you qualify for SSI, you will receive Medicaid right away.
